The management of Australia's forests is guided by the 1992 National Forest Policy Statement (NFPS). The NFPS ensures the sustainable management of all Australian forests, whether the forest is on public or private land, or reserved or available for production.

“Sustainable yield” calculations are designed to ensure the forest will re-grow at the same or even a faster rate than it is harvested. As a result, less than 1 per cent of the available area for harvesting is actually harvested each year.

Further controls define how and where the forest may be harvested, what must be protected during harvesting and what other precautions are to be taken to safeguard the wildlife, water courses, recreation and heritage values of these unique ecosytems. This level of control over forest operations is an important aspect of Australia's world class reputation for supplying wood from forests managed in an ecologically sustainable manner.

All Outback Flooring native Australian hardwood is sourced in accordance with the principals and laws of the 1992 NFPS, a system developed to sustain the full range of commercial and conservation values of the natural, for current and future generations.
